Donations allow local farmers and their families to access mental welfare and relief services
Natural Distilling Co announced earlier this month it has partnered with local charity Gippsland Farmer Relief Inc, which is classified as an “essential service”.
GFR supports local farming families by providing food support/aid to those suffering on-going financial stress as a result of the milk price crisis, those impacted throughout 2019 by the worst Victorian drought in decades and the devastating East Gippsland bush fires in 2019/20. Early in 2020 the charities food stocks were depleted in assisting hundreds of fire affected farmers in East Gippsland, replenishment was hampered due to panic buying by the public and the resulting supply restrictions put in place by Foodbank, wholesalers and supermarkets.
Natural Distilling Co’s Founder Rhys Staley said, “GFR’s vision of providing regular farm household assistance, along with linking farmers to existing welfare and support services was a cause that resonated with us. We searched for a community focused organisation that had similar values to ours and a grass roots impact”.
“Farmers are proud and enduring; they are hardest workers in our community and the last to ask for help if they need it. They put family, friends, sporting clubs and other members of their community first. We are proud to contribute in a small way to the welfare of our local farmers and their families”.
